Participation & Lettering – High Expectations
Participation

Being a Wildcat requires high expectations in 4 areas:
- High Academics
- Wildcats are student-athletes, with academics coming first. Wrestlers are expected to balance school, wrestling, and other activities responsibly.
- Grades 9–12 must maintain at least 75% in all classes and work to achieve a team GPA goal of 3.4.
- Grades 7–8 must maintain at least 65% in all classes.
- Wrestlers may be required to use practice time to improve grades if standards are not met.
- High Attendance
- Attendance is critical because one absence affects the entire team. Missing practices or competitions can impact team performance and practice quality.
- Wrestlers must attend the full school day to compete.
- Wrestlers must attend at least half a school day to participate in practice.
- High Character
- Wildcats are expected to demonstrate courage, confidence, relentlessness, respect, and selflessness.
- Wildcats must compete with humility, perseverance, and consideration for teammates, opponents, officials, and the community.
- High Effort
- Success is measured not only by wins and losses, but by effort and commitment. Wrestlers are expected to:
- Follow coaching instructions,
- Practice with maximum mental, physical, and spiritual intensity,
- Fully commit and work to the best of their ability.
Lettering

Lettering as a Wildcat requires Performance in 4 areas:
- Academic Requirements
- Grades 9–12 must have at least a 2.0 GPA
- Grades 7–8 must have grades of at least 65% in all classes during the wrestling season.
- Attendance
- Must have less than four Unexcused absences from practices and no Unexcused absences from Dual meet competitions
- Must have attended a minimum of 4 youth practice nights and if not competing on the day of, work the CL MNUSA Youth Tournament
- Character
- No violations of MSHSL rules, suspension from school, or team disciplinary enfractions.
- Performance
- 12 varsity points earned (forfeits do not count) or make the Section and State team rosters.
Coaches reserve the right to make final determination for lettering any individual based on case-by-case circumstances.
